The Interview With God  对上帝的一次采访

I dreamed I had an interview with God.

我梦见自己对上帝进行了一次采访。

“So you would like to interview me?” God asked.

上帝说：“你要采访我啊？”

“If you have the time” I said.

我说：“如果祢有时间的话。”

God smiled. “My time is eternity.”

上帝微笑着，说：“我的时间是永恒。”

“What questions do you have in mind for me?”

“那你想问什么问题呢？”

“What surprises you most about humankind?”

“人类最让你吃惊的是什么？”

God answered...
“That they get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then
long to be children again.”

上帝回答：“他们对自己的童年不耐烦，要快快长大，

后来却又希望回到童年；”

“That they lose their health to make money...
and then lose their money to restore their health.”

“他们为了赚钱失去健康，却又用所有的钱来买回健康；”

“That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present,
such that they live in neither the present nor the future.”

“那是因为，他们不住焦虑地思索未来，以致忘记了现在--

那他们既没有活在当下，更没法活在未来。”

"That they live as if they will never die,
and die as though they had never lived.”

“他们活着，好像从来不会死；

当他们死的时候，好像从来没有活过。”

God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while.

上帝握着我的手，我们沉默了片刻。

And then I asked...
“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons
you want your children to learn?”

然后我问：

“作为父亲，祢希望祢的孩子们学习哪些人生功课？”

“To learn they cannot make anyone love them. All they can do
is let themselves be loved.”

“他们要学习的是，他们不能要所有人都喜欢他们，

而是要让自己成为可爱的人。”

“To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.”

“要知道，将自己与别人比较是不适当的。”

“To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.”

“要学会饶恕，通过不断地练习原谅。”

“To learn that it only takes a few seconds
to open profound wounds in those they love,
and it can take many years to heal them.”

“要学习，只需要几秒钟就会给自己所爱的人戳开深深的创伤，

却需要用许多许多年才能医治好这个伤口。”

“To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most,
but is one who needs the least.”

“要知道，一个富有的人不是拥有很多，

而是需要很少”

“To learn that there are people who love them dearly,
but simply have not yet learned how to express or show their feelings.”

“要学习，一生中很多人深爱着他们，

只是这些人未晓得表达或显露他们的情感”

“To learn that two people can look at the same thing
and see it differently.”

“要学习，虽然看的是同样的事物，

两个人却有不同的看法。”

“To learn that it is not enough that they
forgive one another, but they must also forgive themselves.”

“要学习，原谅对方是不够的；

更重要是，原谅自己。”

"Thank you for your time," I said humbly.

“谢谢祢给我采访的时间，”我谦卑地说。

"Is there anything else
you would like your children to know?"

“还有什么祢希望祢的孩子们知道的？”

God smiled and said,
“Just know that I am here... always.”

上帝微笑着说：

“只要知道，我在这里......

每时每刻（总是，每次都是，一直，一贯，永远）......”
